A few things might be happening.
- The domain might have just started advertising. We update our data monthly and might not have found them yet. - The domain's ads never come back in the top 21 ads for any of the 8 million keywords we track. Try searching for a keyword you know they should be advertising on. Do we track that keyword at all? If so, you can see the ads we have found and maybe get some idea for why we missed the domain you're looking at. If not, then we may track that keyword sometime in the future, but right now we have no data for it.

All the values shouldn't be in a single cell. If you can tell me which report specifically you are looking at and your version of excel I can try reproducing the problem.
Will the xls export open properly? Or is the report a zipped csv (in which case csv is your only option).
There should be a way to tell excel where to delimit the columns. I know this options comes up if you get the "Text Import Wizard". So, maybe try saving the csv as a .txt file and then open that with excel to try to get the wizard where you can set the column delimiters. Just a guess.
Hope this helps, Steve

We don't have local data as of right now. Google always tries to take your location into consideration, so we make it a point to have SpyFu request things from different locations all over the country. So one month the ads for plumber may be Los Angeles ads and the next month they may be chicago ads.
One thing you can do is search for regionally specific keywords, like "plumber chicago".
Local data for different specific regions within the US will be a different product altogether. Much like how SpyFu UK is a separate product now. I don't have any ETAs on that right now though.

These are both things on our long term road map. But I don't have an ETA for these being released. So they won't be ready anytime in the next 4-5 months. All of our focus is on additional features for our Google.com and Google.co.uk products.

I like that idea. I understand the problem you're describing. We may be able to explore some options to group keywords by campaign as well. All just stuff on the drawing board right now though.
Thanks for the input, Steve

To first answer "Where are these number even coming from?" All of our data is ultimately collected from Google. But exactly where and how we may or may not be tweaking some numbers I can't really say.
That being said, some of our search volume information has been a little bit dated up to this point. But starting this month (ETA 2 weeks until it is deployed to the site) we will have our search volume information updating on a monthly basis with all of the rest of our data.
So your criticism is valid. If you spot check search volume you can find inconsistencies with what Google says. We will improve this stat soon. We also plan to add in a Cost/Day column.
The real strength of Keyword SmartSearch is find find keywords based on knowing what we know competitors on that keyword are also buying.

Hendrik, There have been a few bugs with csv exporting that should now be fixed. I just tested out top ad competitors and was able to export a csv ok. If problems for you persist with a domain, e-mail us the specific details at support@spyfu.com. We can then try to reproduce the error from there. Are you trying to export via the CSV link next to the "View More" button? Or via the CSV export button once you are looking at the complete grid? Both options should be working.
Sorry to answer your question with more questions,
Steve

We have not been working on the same bug since 2008. It isn't a case of us just giving you lip service and then sitting on the problem. We have been facing many data export issues over the lifetime of the site. Our current grid is a third generation grid and is the first to have the built in filter options. At any rate, I can assure you that this is currently being worked on by our developers.
I have credited you a free month at the end of your current billing cycle. So your expiration date is now 10/17. The export bug is really something that should have never made it into production and we'd like to make up for the time it may have cost you.

Thanks for the update John. I'm glad you got it working in one browser at least.
I know we test in firefox, so I would be surprised if there is a browser specific issue there unless they just came out with an update. I will be sure to forward this info to the developer in charge.
Thanks again, Steve

I have tried to track down your e-mail but was unable to. I apologize. My guess is it may have caught in a spam filter, but I don't mean to make excuses. I will e-mail you right now so that you can just reply to that.
